Holy shit it's been a while - An update

Hoo boy, this hiatus is going longer than expected. Although I've been working on the comic, progress to create a buffer has been slow due to various health issues (yay), and just generally being busier than usual. I almost have a buffer of five pages (5 weeks worth) but due to my health issues that can be burnt through faster than one might think. Furthermore, I've been consulting with a professional writer about how to make Ignotus something truly great, so I've been making and will be making some edits to the already-uploaded issues as feedback arrives, mostly minor dialogue changes and an extra panel on Issue 1 page 23 to help the scene flow better, for now at least. Could be some changes to Issue 2 and maybe Issue 3 as well. Not only that, we'll be getting a short prologue/intro thing to better establish the characters. Once all that's done, provided my health stays on track, we shouldn't have such a long hiatus and crappy scheduling again. Hopefully. Maybe.

In other words, things are still gonna be bumpy for a while. But I'm on some new medication so hopefully that can help me with my health issues, and although I'll have to retroactively make some edits at the suggestion of my writer buddy which will mess with scheduling a bit, it'll be worth it in the end.

Super sorry about how long it's been BTW. I hate how little I've been able to get done of the past few months. But life happens, unfortunately.
Update on the hiatus

TL;DR: Starting to get better, but need more time, so we're still on hiatus. Sorry.

So my mental health has been getting a little better and I'm adjusting to some new medication that seems to be working, so my headspace is getting closer to a state where I can work on Ignotus again. However, I'm also on the way to getting other treatment options for several mental health influencing factors (e.g. chronic pain), so I'm bit busy and still quite exhausted, so I'm not quite back to working capacity yet, unfortunately. Like I've said previously, trying to force it will just leave me even more tired and the quality of my work will suffer for it, so we're still on hiatus sadly (sorry). But be reassured, things have been getting better! So hopefully I'll have the time and energy soon to make new pages in a timely manner.

Thank you all for your support and understanding.

Kind regards

A short hiatus

I'm taking a short break as my mental health is down the shitter, I'm constantly exhausted and I ran out of buffer pages. So until I see my psychiatrist in a week or so and feel a little more energetic, there won't be new pages uploaded. Forcing myself to work on the comic is just going to result in lower quality, y'know? It's gotta come naturally, and right now it just... isn't. I'm just too exhausted to keep a good pace at the moment, but it won't be forever, and hopefully I'll be feeling less crappy soon.

Thanks for your understanding, and sorry.

Update on the wrist injury situation - Good news!

Greetings my dudes. So for that dramatic-ass previous blog post, turns out the hiatus mightn't be that long after all. I finally managed to get into the care of a competent physio (rarer than you think), and with her help and a a wrist brace that costs the same as a AAA video game here in Australia (when you take postage into account at least), my wrists have been healing nicely, to the point where I've been able to draw again, although I can't draw for as long as before before they begin to ache. I'm able to type too, as those active on the ComicFury forums may have noticed.

So I've been making pages, but I haven't uploaded yet because I need to beef up the buffer in case of mental health dips and to compensate for my slower working speed. I'm targeting a buffer of 5 or 6 weeks worth of pages. I'm at 4 currently, so I reckon if all goes well mentally and nothing goes wrong physically, I should be back to the regular schedule (12pm Tuesdays ACDT) within the next two weeks.

Thank you all for your patience, thank you for reading Ignotus, and have a lovely day :)

Kind regards,

Some bad news

G'day fellas. Even so soon after the break over Christmas, I am forced to put Ignotus on hiatus, and for once it's not because of my mental health. Simply put, I've gotten an RSI in both my wrists, my dominant hand being significantly worse. This renders me unable to draw (or type too much) without risking permanent damage, on instruction from a physio. It's been incredibly frustrating for me: being unable to draw and create when I'm full of desire to do so has resulted in genuine tears, and even a few afternoons sobbing on my couch. Art is my life, and Ignotus is my passion, so this isn't a case of me losing interest like happens to so many webcomics: quite the opposite in fact.

To be blunt, I'm not sure how long this injury is going to put me out of the game - some RSIs can take months to heal. Because of the unknown nature of the length of time I can't draw or type for (making DeviantArt uploads difficult due to queued uploads being locked behind a subscription, also, more typing) and the fact that the queue on ComicFury is intended for when I need mental health breaks (where I am still able to upload on dA), I believe putting the comic on hiatus, as much as it pains me, is the correct choice.

Thanks you so much for your understanding, and I'm so sorry for the horrid timing and the situation as a whole.

Kind regards:

Season's greetings, readers! I've been finding myself subject to a bout of exhaustion that I have been unable to shake as of late, so I've decided to take a short break from uploading over Christmas. Having a short break means I can spend time with my family for the holidays and get myself back in order so I don't get burnt out or overly stressed. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks again for reading and enjoying Ignotus, and whatever you celebrate around this time of year, I hope you have a pleasant one :)

Kind regards

Hoo boy, mildly embarassing. I was uploading a page to the queue and forgot to set the date properly. Update isn't until tomorrow as per usual. But, if you were quick on the draw you might have seen page 5 of Issue 3 hahaha. Sorry for the inconvenience, and have a lovely day :)
